In June 2022, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) released the draft revision to the standard Acetone Code of Safety to solicit public comments. This standard was first published in 1974. With a view to update the standard based on the experience of the last five decades and on the currently available data, India's Chemical Hazards Sectional Committee felt a need to revise the standard. In this revision, general properties, safety measures for controlling hazards, and essential information on symptoms of asphyxiation, first-aid, medical treatment, storage, handling, labeling and employee safety have been incorporated. The public consultation will end on August 15, 2022.
