1,022 Substances Drafted for Third Stage of Taiwan GHS Implementation

On 4 Oct, Taiwan’s Council of Labor Affairs (CLA) released a proposed list of 1,022 GHS-classified hazardous substances. The English and Chinese name, CAS Number and GHS classification information have been released for public consultation until 25 Oct, 2013.

When the final list is published, substances should comply with the Regulation of Labeling and Hazard Communication of Dangerous and Harmful Materials. Taiwan’s national standards on classification and labeling of chemicals (CNS 15030, and CNS 15030-1~27) was promulgated on the 12 Oct 2006. The standards were revised on the 29 Dec 2009, adopting the revised 2nd edition of GHS. Any violations in classification, hazard pictogram, labeling contents, communication measures, etc. will be seriously punished.

So far, 2,151 hazardous substances have been regulated under the Regulation. 1,062 substances are subject to the stage one of Taiwan GHS which was launched on 31 Dec 2008 and the remaining 1,089 substances are subject to stage two of Taiwan GHS which was released on the 7 Jan 2011.
