Peru Publishes Legislation on National Chemical Management
Jun 05, 2023
On May 28, 2023, Peru's Minister of the Environment (MINAM) approved Legislative Decree No. 1570 and published it on the Official Gazette, which marks the implementation of national chemical management framework. It establishes a National Registry of Chemical Substances (RENASQ) and a process for risk assessment of priority substance.

Brazil Moves Forward with New Chemical Law
May 30, 2023
On May 9, 2023, Brazil’s Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJC) approved the National Chemical Law (PL 6120/19). The Bill will now be submitted to Senate for consideration. Once passed, the Bill will serve as the Brazil REACH Regulation and make Brazil the third countries in South America to establish a chemical management law after Chile and Colombia.

Colombia Enforces GHS Implementation in Workplace
Apr 20, 2023
On April 9, 2021, Colombia issued Resolution 0773/2021 to implement GHS in the workplace. Chemical products should be classified in accordance with the sixth revised edition of the Globally Harmonized System of Classifying and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS Rev.6), as well as the labeling and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

Navigating Changes of Singapore GHS

On February 6, 2023, Singapore Standards Council published the revised GHS implementation Rules, namely SS 586-2 and SS 586-3. The revised standards adopt the requirements set out in GHS Rev.7, with combustible dust elements included from GHS Rev.8. They took effect on February 6, 2023 with a two-year grace period.

Labeling of Toxic and Concerned Chemicals in Taiwan

On November 4, 2022, the revised Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation was make public in the offical Gazette. The amendments took effect immediately, except for Article 3 and Article 4 which will come into force on October 31, 2023.
