MEP Chemical Approvals

It was released by the MEP (Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China) that, 118 certificates on import of toxic chemicals were reviewed and issued in 2010, of which there were 102 new registration certificates, 8 additional certificates and 8 modified certificates.

It was also released that 1911 environmental management registration certificates on the import of toxic chemicals and 3820 registration certificates on the export of toxic chemicals were reviewed and issued last year, covering 38 substances and 300 enterprises domestic and foreign. The totally approved import tonnage was 1169815.60 MT, decreasing by 31.48% over last year, and the totally approved export tonnage was 155712.67 MT, decreasing by 43.94% over last year, which showed a downward trend in the total volume of import and export.

Besides, 102 new chemical substances registration certificates and 4712 notification exemption applications were approved by MEP, and 224 chemical substances were also authorized to add into the “Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances in China”.
