Taiwan to Update Standard for Alcohol Product Containers

On 18 Jun, the Ministry of Finance notified WTO on the amendments to the Appendix of Article 5 of the Hygienic Standards for Alcohol Products Containers to raise more requirements on the phthalates contents.

According to the amendment, the migration levels of BBP, DIDP, DINP and DEHA from plastic containers into alcoholic products should not exceed 30 ppm, 9 ppm, 9 ppm and 18 ppm, respectively.

Additionally, the total content of DEHP, DBP, BBP, DIDP, DINP, DMP, DNOP and DEP in containers made of polyvinylchloride (PVC) must not be more than 0.1 %.

These changes will come into force 6 months after the date of promulgation.
