More and more cities in the Chinese mainland are piloting the Hazchem QR code application to push forward the "One enterprise, one chemical product, and one QR code" management. Taiwan, China revised the Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS. South Korea finalized the Regulation on Designation, etc. of Substances subject to Authorization. The UK extends submission deadlines for transitional registrations. Japan, ASEAN countries, Australia, EU, US and Canada have also undergone several regulatory updates.Global chemical stakeholders need to stay vigilant about the frequent regulatory changes, so as to effectively address compliance challenges and aim for great success while shouldering their social responsibilities. The year 2021 has witnessed many significant events and progress in the chemical industry in the Asia-Pacific region. 2021 is the first year when the new Measures for the Environmental Management Registration of New Chemical Substances (MEE Order No.12 of 2020) took effect in Chinese mainland. China's Taiwan revised the New and Existing Chemical Registration Regulation and extended 106 PECs registration deadline to the end of 2024. Japan revised substances lists under the Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) law, and consulted on Enforcement Order of Industrial Safety and Health Law (ISHL) and Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health for 234 substances for mandatory SDS and Label requirements, as well as substances Lists under Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL). Thailand published a draft of the Chemical Substance Act. Vietnam decided to amend the Law on Chemicals and consulted on the Amendment of Decree No.113/2017/ND-CP.Global chemical stakeholders need to stay vigilant about the frequent regulatory changes, so as to effectively address compliance challenges and aim for great success while shouldering their social responsibilities.
