The GB 20595 was referred to and evolved from the GHS standard in its compiling process by the AQSIQ and SAC, however, there are some minor distinctions between them.

- providing precaution statements for the substance or mixture, such as physical hazard;
- precautions of health hazards from misuses and exposures;
- measures for accidental treatment;
- Emergency treatment;
- measures for environmental protection and disposals;
- specific statements for the consumers.
