Minnesota Extends PFAS Reporting Deadline Until September 2026
The U.S. state of Minnesota has again postponed the deadline for initial reporting of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in consumer products. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) announced that the new due date for the first PFAS product disclosure is now September 15, 2026. This extension provides affected businesses additional time to comply with the state’s emerging chemical reporting requirements under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 116.

South Korea MOEL Updates Standards for Chemical Classification, Labeling, and MSDS
On April 24, 2026, South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) officially amended the “Standards for the Classification, Labeling, and Material Safety Data Sheets of Chemical Substances.” Effective immediately upon publication, this regulatory update refines the existing chemical safety management framework by clarifying the scope of MSDS requirements, enhancing hazard communication for foreign workers, and detailing regulatory disclosure rules for mixtures.

Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) Updates Names of 155 Listed Substances
If a chemical is listed in AIIC only with chemical identity information (CAS number and name), introducers (importers/manufacturers) registered with the AICIS Business Services Portal can directly introduce the chemical.

EU Proposes New Restrictions on PHT Under REACH Regulation
On 8 May 2026, the European Union notified the World Trade Organization of a draft Commission Regulation that would add a new restriction entry to Annex XVII of REACH for terphenyl, hydrogenated (CAS No. 61788-32-7), also referred to as partly hydrogenated terphenyl (PHT). Stakeholder comments are open until 7 July 2026, and adoption is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Taiwan Consults on Amendments to GHS Labeling and Hazard Communication Regulation
On May 7, 2026, Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor (MoL) issued the draft amendments of the Regulations for the Labeling and Hazard Communication of Hazardous Chemicals (hereafter referred to as the “Regulation”). The proposal aims to update partial articles and Appendices 1, 3, and 4 of the Regulation to align with UN GHS Rev. 8 and the updated CNS 15030 serial standards for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals in Taiwan. The draft proposal is currently undergoing a 60-day public consultation.
