On January 5th, 2021, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) issued the Measures on the Management of Carbon Emission Trade (Trial) (hereinafter refers to “the Measures”), aiming to standardize national carbon emissions trading and related activities. The Measures entered into effect on February 1st, 2021.

The Measures are applicable for the carbon emission trading and other revelant acttivities, including the allocation and clearance of carbon emission allowances, carbon emission registrations, trading and settlements, greenhouse gas emission reporting and verification and other activities, as well as the supervision and management of the foregoing activities.
