This list is published in accordance with Article 59(10) of the REACH Regulation and updated at regular intervals by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), with the first substances listed on 28 October 2008. Substances with the following hazard properties may be identified as SVHCs, which will be included in the list:

(1) Substances meeting the criteria for classification as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR) category 1A or 1B in accordance with the CLP Regulation;

(2) Substances which are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) or very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to REACH Annex XIII;

(3) Substances on a case-by-case basis, that cause an equivalent level of concern as CMR or PBT/vPvB substances.
