Summary

On December 25, 2025, Japan announced in the Official Gazette the approval of the latest revised version of JIS Z 7253: 2025 (Hazard communication of chemicals based on GHS – Labelling and Safety Data Sheet (SDS)). This revision aligns with the 9th revised edition of the UN's "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)" and is intended to replace the current 2019 standard (JIS Z 7253: 2019), which was based on the GHS 6th revised edition.
