On June 1, 2026, the European Commission adopted the Roadmap towards phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessments. The roadmap sets out 22 actions across 15 legislative domains to accelerate the development, validation, standardization, and uptake of non-animal approaches for chemical safety assessments while maintaining the integrity of safety evaluations to ensure a high level of protection for human and animal health and the environment.
