This standard is applicable to the classification and labeling of explosives. The current version is an update of its initial one published on 12 Oct 2006, based on Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, ST/SG/AC. 10/31/Rev.2 (GHS Rev.2 released in 2007).

The class of explosive comprises:

1. Explosive substances and mixtures

2. Explosive articles, except devices containing explosive substances or mixtures in such quantity or of such a character that their inadvertent or accidental ignition or initiation shall not cause any effect external to the device either by projection, fire, smoke, heat or loud noise; and

3. Substances, mixtures and articles not mentioned under (1) and (2) above which are manufactured with view to producing a practical, explosive or pyrotechnic effect.
