This standard applies to the classification and labeling for oxidizing gases. The current version is an update of its initial one published on 12 Oct 2006, based on Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, ST/SG/AC. 10/31/Rev.2 (GHS Rev.2 released in 2007).

An oxidizing gas is any gas which may, generally by providing oxygen, cause or contribute to the combustion of other material more than air does.
