Summary

On December 30, 2019, the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), along with the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the General Administration of Customs (GACC), jointly published the Inventory of Severely Restricted Toxic Chemicals (2020). 

The 2020 Inventory lists 8 categories of chemicals, compared with 10 in its predecessor (see ChemLinked news on the 2018 Inventory). They are:

  • Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), its salts and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride (PFOSF)

  • Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD)

  • Mercury

  • Tetramethyllead

  • Tetraethyllead

  • Polychlorinated terphenyls (PCT)

  • Tributyltin compounds

  • Short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs)
