Background

The list includes List of Hazardous Chemicals Prohibited from Inland Waterway Transport and List of List of Hazardous Chemicals Prohibited from Inland Waterway Transport in Bulk, which was jointly released by MOT, MEE, MIIT and MEM on 24th May, 2019.

Contents

The China's List of Hazardous Chemicals Prohibited from Inland Waterway Transport (2019) is divided into two parts, containing 228 chemical substances which are prohibited from being transported on inland waterways by any means and in any form, and 85 substances which are prohibited from being transported on inland waterways in bulk. In addition to information like "Chemical name", "Alias", "CAS registry number", and "UN number" provided for each entry, the new list also specifies the official number of each substance in the Inventory of Hazardous Chemicals (2015) and Proper Shipping Names (in Chinese) of certain substances as stipulated in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. The list took effect immediately upon its release, and the 2015 version was abrogated at the same time. (Reference: MOT notice)
