Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) is a chemical management system created by UN including classification, labeling and safety data sheet (SDS) and packing of chemicals. The UN GHS is non-legally binding international agreement. Therefore, different countries create their own legislations to implement GHS. China GHS draws its origin from the UN GHS and involves chemical production, storage, transportation, operation, use, waste disposal, etc.
The two-phrase training invites experts from UN GHS Committee and UNITAR to teach by simultaneous interpretation. And domestic GHS experts and corporate respective will introduce the GHS practical implementation in China and share experience.
The first phrase targeted at relevant departments, associations and research institutes (7-8 November) covers:
- Necessity of GHS implementation in China and the current situation of chemical classification and labeling
- GHS regulations in Japan and UN countries and regions
- Introduction of GHS system including provisions of GHS classification, labeling and SDS, together with GHS classification, criteria and examples of physical hazards, health hazards and environmental hazards by UN experts
The second phrase targeted at companies (9-11 November) covers:
- Necessity of GHS implementation in China and the current situation of chemical classification and labeling
- Experience sharing of GHS implementation by transnational chemical companies
- Solutions for chemical import involving GHS regulations
- Introduction of GHS system including provisions of GHS classification, labeling and SDS, together with GHS classification, criteria and examples of physical hazards, health hazards and environmental hazards by UN experts
- Exercise and discussion
