Event Overview:
Although the market for chemical logistics is likely to be stagnant in 2012, there is no doubt that long-term expectations are stable. Transport Intelligence estimates that from 2011 to 2015, growth in the chemical logistics market will be driven by emerging markets. According to the statistics, China will experience the highest levels of growth, expanding by an average of 9% per year between 2011 and 2015.
Chemical supply chain and logistics are vital to success of petrochemical corporations because they represent a high share of cost and are critical of service level and top-line results. The first company to develop new, innovative products and customer specific solutions carry the complex cost burden, and part of this burden will be transferred into the supply chain inevitably. In addition, Third-party logistics providers (3PLs) will be faced with the challenge of keeping up with the changes such as regulatory, market, technology as well as alternative feedstocks application in China.
