On May 22, 2023, Brazil's PFAS draft bill (PL No. 2726/2023) was first introduced in the Chamber of Deputies by Deputy Juninho do Pneu (UNIÃO/RJ), which "Institutes the national policy for the control of PFAS - perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and provides other measures".
The draft bill was submitted to the Committees on Environment and Sustainable Development (CMADS) for delibration.
On December 20, 2024, the substitute bill presented by CMADS was approved by the Rapporteur, Rep. Duda Salabert. The substitute bill has introduced more stringent requirements for PFAS control in Brazil.
