On May 8, 2026, the European Union notified the World Trade Organization of a draft Commission Regulation to add a new Annex XVII restriction under REACH for terphenyl, hydrogenated (PHT). The draft would prohibit the placing on the market and use of PHT at concentrations of 0.1% w/w or greater, subject to certain exemptions such as specified industrial heat transfer uses, defence applications, and a delayed transition for civil aircraft applications.
