Background

The upcoming webinar will spotlight the various Indian BIS certification schemes established under the BIS Act, 2016 and BIS Conformity Assessment Regulation, 2018. The session will particularly address requirements relevant to foreign manufacturers supplying products to the Indian market. If a product falls under the scope of mandatory BIS certification, obtaining a BIS license is essential to comply with the Bureau of Indian Standards.

The presentation will demystify the different BIS schemes, with a primary focus on Scheme-I, Scheme-II, Scheme-IV, and Scheme-X, which are constantly evolving as the product list expands and new Indian Standards QCOs are published. The overarching aim of these schemes is to ensure product quality and safety in the Indian market. These Schemes are:

  • Scheme-I encompasses Chemicals, Electricals, Petrochemicals, Textiles, Batteries, and several other products.

  • Scheme-II, also called the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), primarily covers a range of electronic goods.

  • Scheme-IV, known as the Certificate of Conformity, pertains to products such as transformer stampings, laminations or cores (with or without winding), and retro-reflective devices for bicycles.

  • Scheme-X is currently in active mode, providing transition periods for heavy industries under the OTR regulation until September 2026. The other regulation is for Voltage and Switchgears, and already implemented phase wise.

This webinar will provide participants with a fundamental understanding of these schemes, coupled with practical demonstrations.

Join us and learn about the most recent regulatory changes, real-world compliance issues, and the evolving BIS certification landscape!
