EU Industry Opposes Proposed Ban on Fluoropolymers

Earlier in February 2023, an ambitious plan to restrict or even ban all PFASs was unveiled by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This universal restriction proposal calls for the phase-out of around 10,000 PFASs used in a wide array of applications.

Understanding the Brand New Thailand Chemical Substance Act

Thailand proposes to replace the Hazardous Substance Act with the new Chemical Substance Act, which places greater emphasis on risk assessment in chemical management. The government has released two drafts of the new Act so far, one in April and another in October. This article introduces the new Chemical Substance Act and includes an analysis and interpretation of the new drafts. A comparison with the currently effective Hazardous Substance Act is also included.

Taiwan’s Priority Management Chemicals under OSHA

Taiwan’s Regulation Governing Designation and Handling of Priority Management Chemicals (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulation”) is prescribed in accordance with Article 14 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (hereinafter referred to as the "OSHA"), which requires manufacturers, importers, suppliers, or employers to report relevant handling information of priority management chemicals to the MoL. The regulation has been effective since 1 Jan 2015.

Thailand Hazardous Chemical Substance List: Regulatory Obligations and Market Access Implications

On Feb 19th, 2015, Ministry of Industry (MOI) published a notification pertaining to the List of Hazardous Substances (No. 2) B.E. 2558 (2015). According to the notification, manufacturers and importers of chemical substances that meet certain criteria will have to notify chemical substances to the Department of Industrial Works (DIW).
