Japan Updates the Positive List of FCM

On December 24, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan released the revision of the FCM positive list, which applies to food contact utensils, containers and packaging made of synthetic resin. The latest version of the positive list adds 125 new substances that can be safely used in food contact materials.

On Oct. 27, China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) opened 10 new varieties of food-related products for public feedback, including three new additive varieties used in food contact materials (FCM) and articles, two FCM additives with expanded application scope, and five new resins. 15 New Food Ingredients and Food-related Products Granted Approval in China

China Unveils 17 GB Standards and 1 Amendment, with Food Contact Materials and Articles Involved

On Sep. 16, 2021, China NHC unveiled 17 GB standards and 1 amendment sheet, including six GB standards for food additives, five testing methods for heavy metals and chemical substances, three for nutritional fortification substances, two for bacteria limits in foods, one for product specification, as well as one amendment sheet to GB standard for sports nutrition food.
