This March, Chinese Standardization Administration (SAC) launched an online database of national standards and opened thousands of national standards for users to read online and download. The database has been a success since its launch. It has got millions of hits, over 266 thousands online readings and more than 151 thousand downloads. On May 8th 2017, SAC appended the national standards database with a second batch of standards.
The 2nd batch contains 11,975 recommended national standards (GB/Ts) and brought the total number of recommended national standards in the database up to 19,163. According to SAC’s timeline, there will be another 2 batches of national standards supplemented into the database by the end of 2017. At that time, the database will include all the compulsory and recommended national standards and they will all be free for the public to access.
It should be noted that due to copyright issues, some compulsory standards can only be read online instead of being downloaded. No recommended standards can be downloaded. For some standards the database only provides the title, standard number and other publication information.
