On 6 Jan 2014, NHFPC announced the approval of four new additives used in food packaging materials and one new food contact resin. Additionally, three food contact additives that are already in use have had extensions in their scope of applications.

The application scope of cobalt stearate and phenol,2,4-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) -,phosphite(3:1) is extended to EVOH and PEI respectively. Stearic acid is now allowed to be used in all plastics approved in China.
