China Updates OELs Standard for Hazardous Agents in Workplace

On November 28, the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China (NHC) released a notice to amend GBZ 2.1-2019 Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Agents in the Workplace Part 1: Chemical Hazardous Agents. The amendment takes effect the same day it was released.

China Releases New Standard for SVHCs and Restricted Chemicals in Automotive Industry

On October 31, China released a group standard T/ZTCA 011.1—2022 Automotive industry control of key chemical substances — Part 1:Application guidelines. It is set to provide general technical standard for the testing of REACH controlled chemicals in automotive industry. It specifies the application scope of controlled chemicals in metallic and non-metallic materials of auto parts, including 222 substances of very high concern (SVHC) and 77 entries of restricted chemicals.

China Implements New Standards for Children’s Products

China has issued two product standards, GB/T 41002-2022 General specification for children’s case and bag and FZ/T 08002-2022 Textile products for newborns. GB/T 41002-2022 mainly covered the product categorization, technical requirements, test methods, labeling, packaging, transport and storage of case and bags for children. FZ/T 08002-2022 mainly covered the specification, test methods, packaging, transport and storage of textile products for newborns. Both standards came into effect on October 1, 2022.

China Announces Action Plan for Standardized Carbon Measurement System

On October 31, 2022, China issued the Implementation Plan for Establishing Standardized Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Measurement System, a multi-department effort to support the “1+N” policy framework for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. The Implementation Plan, one of several dozen “N” plans currently under development, introduces concrete and actionable goals and major tasks for establishing a standardized measurement system in this regard.
