POPs Convention listed DP and UV-328 in Annex A for Global Ban

At the 11th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Stockholm Convention held from 1 to 12 May, 2023, delegates representing 180 countries took important decision to list three persistent organic pollutants (POPs), namely the pesticide methoxychlor and the industrial chemicals Dechlorane Plus and UV-328 in Annex A to the Convention.

In a webinar held by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) on April 5, 2023, five authorities from Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden formed a live panel to discuss the restriction proposal for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The proposal was co-drafted by the five countries to address the risks to the environment and human health from PFAS.

POPs Convention Recommends Banning DP and UV-328

On March 6, 2023, the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants released meeting documents of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention (SC COP-11) on recommendation of listing Dechlorane Plus and UV-328 in Annex A (Elimination) to the Convention with time-limited specific exemptions.
