South Korea Trials IT System for MSDS Submission and CBI Non-disclosure Application

MSDS submission and CBI non-disclosure approval through the KOSHA IT system is mandatory before manufacture or import, which will take effect on Jan 16, 2021.Overseas manufacturers are allowed to appoint an only representative (OR) based in Korea to comply with the obligations.

Korea GHS: Revised Standards for Classification and Labeling of Chemical Substances and Material Safety Data Sheet Published

On November 12, 2020, Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) published the revised Standards for Classification and Labeling of Chemical Substances and Material Safety Data Sheet by Public Notice No.2020-130. It will enter into force on January 16, 2021, the same implementation date of the revised Occupational Safety and Health Act (K-OSHA).

South Korea to Update Standards for GHS Classification and SDS Submission

On June 8, 2020, Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) published the draft revision to the Standards for Classification and Labeling of Chemical Substances and Material Safety Data Sheet[1] (hereafter referred to as the draft Standard) by MoEL Notice No.2020-247. Public comments are welcome before June 29, 2020.

Korea MoEL Requires SDS Online Submission from 2021

The revised Occupational Safety and Health Act[1] (OSHA) was promulgated as Law No. 16272 on January 15, 2019 (CL news[2]). One of the major amendments requires the submission of SDS to the Ministry of Employment and Labour (MoEL) within five years after the amendment is implemented (from January 16, 2021).
