China Steps Up Efforts in Source Control over Toxic and Hazardous Chemicals

The Chinese General Office of the State Council officially released the approved Action Plan for New Pollutants Treatment, according to Notice No.15 of 2022 issued on May 24, 2022, which vows to improve the China’s new pollutants treatment capacity significantly by 2025. The Plan was drafted to solicit public comments in October of 2021, which had attracted widespread attention from the industry.

China Releases Revised Measures on the Management of Transfer of Hazardous Waste

Transfer of hazardous waste in China has been managed according to the Measures for the Management of Hazardous Waste Transfer Manifests since 1999. To meet the new requirements set in the revised Law on Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste (2020) that the transfer of hazardous waste shall be managed throughout the whole process in a more efficient manner, it was revised and renamed as the Measures on the Management of Transfer of Hazardous Waste (hereinafter referred to as Measures). The consultation version of it was published on October 21, 2020 for public comments. The new Measures was published on November 30, 2021, and will take effect on January 1, 2022.
