India Issues Quality Control Orders for 3 Petrochemical Products

Once implemented, the QCOs shall mandate the manufacturer of the 3 petrochemical products to apply for Grant of License by Bureau of Indian Standard to use the Standard Mark.

On February 27, 2024, India's Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) issued Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for 3 petrochemical products on the official gazette. They shall come into force on August 25, 2024. 

According to the Orders, the requirements shall apply to the specified goods or articles in the Table, except those meant for export.

Goods or articles specified in the Table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Any person who contravenes the provisions of this order shall be punished according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act (BIS Act), 2016.
