India Issues Quality Control Orders for Five Polymer Products

Once implemented, the QCOs shall mandate the manufacturer of the five polymer products to apply for Grant of License by Bureau of Indian Standard to use the Standard Mark.

On December 6, 2023, India's Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) issued Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for five polymer products on the official gazette. They shall come into force on June 3, 2024.

According to the Order, the requirements shall apply to the specified goods or articles in the Table, except those meant for export.

The conformed products shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Any person who contravenes the provisions of this order shall be punished according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act (BIS Act), 2016.
