Update: On March 23, 2023, the Gazette of India published a decision by DCPC to further delay the implementation of QCOs for ethylene glycol, which is primarily used in the production of polyester fibers, resins, and films, until June 28, 2023.
India’s Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) published circulars[1] to extend the implementation date of mandatory Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) quality control orders (QCOs) for five chemicals to June 22, 2022. They were supposed to be implemented on December 24, 2021.
The five chemicals are as follows:

The orders shall apply to chemicals for manufacture, import and trade. Each chemical shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard as specified in the table and be marked with BIS Standard Mark after obtaining BIS product certification license, as specified in Scheme I of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
