South Korea’s MOEL amended its chemical classification, labeling, and MSDS standards to clarify MSDS exemptions, strengthen multilingual hazard communication for foreign workers, tighten regulatory disclosures for mixtures, and formalize electronic MSDS transmission requirements.
On April 24, 2026, South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) officially amended the "Standards for the Classification, Labeling, and Material Safety Data Sheets of Chemical Substances." Effective immediately upon publication, this regulatory update refines the existing chemical safety management framework by clarifying the scope of MSDS requirements, enhancing hazard communication for foreign workers, and detailing regulatory disclosure rules for mixtures.
