Switzerland Notifies Draft Revision of Chemical Risk Reduction Ordinance to WTO
On May 28, 2025, Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) notified to WTO the Draft Revision of the Ordinance of the Federal Council concerning amendments of the Ordinance on the Reduction of Risks relating to the Use of Certain Particularly Dangerous Substances, Preparations and Articles (Chemical Risk Reduction Ordinance, ORRChem). The Revision is proposed to be adopted in November 2025 and enter into force on December 1, 2025.

Singapore Clarifies Control Measures for MCCPs, LC-PFCAs, Chlorpyrifos
To align with the decisions adopted at the 12th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-12) held from April 28 to May 9, 2025, Singapore NEA issued circulars to introduce domestic control measures for MCCPs, LC-PFCAs, Chlorpyrifos, carbosulfan, fenthion formulations, and nine mercury-added products.

Washington State Amends Regulation for Lead Restriction in Metal Cookware and Utensils
On May 13, 2025, the governor of Washington signed into law - SB 5628, concerning the phase-out restriction of aluminum or brass cookware or utensils containing lead. The amendment takes effect on July 27, 2025.

Philippines Publishes Draft Chemical Control Order for Benzene
In June 2025, the Philippines published an updated draft of the Chemical Control Order (CCO) for Benzene, inviting public comments. This draft CCO pertains to benzene and benzene-containing mixtures (with a benzene content exceeding 1%) and applies to a wide range of businesses, including importers, distributors, manufacturers, industrial users, and commercial users.

Brazil's New GHS Standard to Enforce on July 4, 2025
Starting July 4, 2025, Brazil’s updated national standard on GHS classification, SDS and labeling—ABNT NBR 14725:2023—will come into force. This revision, published on July 3, 2023, aligns with the 7th revised edition of the UN’s Global Harmonized System (GHS), with a two-year transition period now expiring.

On June 14, 2025, the Vietnam National Assembly voted to approve the Law on Chemicals(amended) with an overwhelmingly high level of consensus. Among 445 deputies who cast their votes, 442 deputies (accounting for 92.47%) voted in favour with no dissent recorded.
