On June 11, 2025, India's Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals published the Polyethylene Material for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025 on the Gazette of India. It shall come into force on the same day of its publication.
The QCO for Polyethylene Material for Moulding and Extrusion was originally released in 2022, which mandates the conformity to standards and compulsory use of Standard Mark for the following products:

The QCO was amended in 2024 which introduced exemptions for several classes of polyethylene material for moulding and extrusion.
The 2025 amendment made further adjustments for products exempted from QCOs by omitting one item and inserting one item. The latest exempted products are listed below:
Low Density Polyethylene Extrusion (LDPE) Coating;
Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) Film Grades (Blown/ Cast) or Pharma;
Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) Hexene/ Octene Grades;
Metallocene Polyethylene Grades;
Base Resins of Power Cable, Jacketing and other applications;
Compounds for Cable Jacketing/ Sheathing/ Polyethylene-80 and Polyethylene-100 (Black and Pigmented)/ Reinforcement Fillers
High density polyethylene for pharmaceutical moulding EP /USP grade CAS No. 25087-34-7 for manufacturing of Disposable Hypodermic Syringes plunger and IV Catheter/cannula
The QCOs do not apply to chemicals intended for export only. The chemical products conforming to the requirements of the Orders shall bear the Standard Mark under the Grant of License by the Bureau of Indian Standards. Any person who contravenes the provisions of the Orders shall be punished according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act (BIS Act), 2016.
