Peru Releases Implementation Rules for GHS and Chemical Management
On April 8, 2026, the Peruvian government officially published Supreme Decree No. 005-2026-MINAM, approving the long-awaited Regulations for Legislative Decree No. 1570. This milestone regulation establishes a comprehensive framework for the integrated management of chemical substances, formally adopting the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and establishing a National Registry of Chemical Substances (RENASQ).

South Korea Announces 86 New Chemicals Registered and Assessed under OSHA
On March 31, 2026, South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor (MoEL) announced the hazard and risk assessment results for 86 new chemical substances manufactured or imported during the first quarter of 2026. The notification highlighted that 26 of these newly registered chemical substances pose significant health and safety hazards, prompting the issuance of mandatory workplace safety measures to protect industry workers.

South Korea Restricts Dissemination of Information Concerning Psychedelic Substances
On April 7, 2026, the South Korean government promulgated a partial amendment to the Chemicals Control Act (Act No. 21531) to tighten the dissemination of information concerning psychedelic substances. The partial amendment, overseen by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE), explicitly prohibits the labeling, advertising, or online posting of information that promotes or details the use of psychedelic substances—or products containing them—for excitement, hallucination, or anesthesia.

Global Chemical Regulation Highlights | March 2026
In March 2026, the Ecological and Environmental Code of the People's Republic of China was released. South Korea drafted and amended various chemical control lists and the GHS classification list.
