Overview of GHS Development in Asia-Pacific in 2013

Many promising progresses and milestones of GHS implementation were observed across the Asia Pacific region in 2013. Malaysia and Thailand commenced GHS implementation for pure substances. Other countries/regions also made progress and improvement to different extents, for example, China published 28 GHS compulsory national standards fully aligned with GHS Rev.4, Japan updated the labeling and SDS templates and classification information for some substances under its established framework, and South Korea achieved full implementation of the GHS (applicable to both pure substances and mixtures).The present text is a progress report and in-depth analysis of the major GHS implementation events observed in 9 countries/areas across the Asia Pacific region throughout 2013, namely China, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Australia , Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
