Korea Designates Chrysotile as Prohibited Chemical
Lead compounds and methylene chloride, which are highly likely to be used for specific purposes, are proposed to be designated as restricted substances. Additionally, chrysotile, which has already been completely banned from handling under other laws, is to be adjusted from restricted chemical to prohibited chemical.

U.S. EPA Amends New Chemicals Regulations under TSCA
On December 3, 2024, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized the amendment of the new chemical procedural regulations under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). These amednment will improve the efficiency of EPA's reviewing process and align with the 2016 bipartisan TSCA Amendment under the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, and update the regulations based on existing policies and experience implementing the New Chemicals Program.

In November of 2024, China’s draft law on hazardous substances safety was approved to be submitted to the NPCSC for deliberation. Taiwan revised 10 standards to adopt UN GHS Rev.8. Japan listed 138 PFOA-related compounds as Class I specified chemicals. Korea proposed updates to the Toxic Chemical Substances List and GHS Classification List. Singapore announced exemptions from prohibitions on Dechlorane Plus and UV-328. The EU revised CLP regulations on substances and mixtures. The U.S. EPA finalized Revisions to PBT rules for decaBDE and PIP (3:1) under TSCA.

China Revises National Inventory of Hazardous Waste
Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Transport and the National Health Commission revised and jointly issued the "National Inventory of Hazardous Wastes (2025 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Inventory"). The Inventory will be implemented from January 1, 2025.
