3 Substances Added to Korea TCSL and GHS Classification List

On 4 July 2013, Korea National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) published Notice No.2013-20 to update South Korea’s Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL). Three new toxic chemical substances have been added into the TCSL and the South Korea’s GHS Classification List.

Korea GHS adopted for toxic chemicals has been mandatory for signal substance since 1 July 2011, and the mixtures should comply with Korea GHS as of 1 July 2013. The corresponding GHS Classification List is managed by the MoE, which provides Korea-specific TCSL identification numbers (TCSL ID), CAS No., classification information, pictograms, signal words, hazard statements and M factors.

3 substances added to the TCSL and GHS classification list are as below:

  • bis(diethylamino)silane (CAS: 27804-64-4);

  • trisilylamine (13862-16-3); and

  • 1-chloro-N,N-diethyl-1,1-diphenyl-1-(phenylmethyl)phosphoramine (82857-86-9).

Besides, on 9 July 2013 the NIER Notice No.2013-21 announced that 34 substances have been added to the non-toxic chemical substance list, including:

  • (1,7,7-Trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-yl)cyclohexanol (CAS No. 68877-29-2);

  • α-Alkenes(C=20~24) polymers with maleic anhydride, sodium salts (CAS No. 173244-45-6); etc.

All the updates to TCSL, GHS Classification List and the non-toxic chemical substance list took effect on the date of publication.
