On January 27, 2023, the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) consulted on draft amendments to the Standards for Classification and Labeling of Chemical Substances and Material Safety Data Sheet (MOEL Public Notice No. 2020-130). Comments are welcome before February 6, 2023.

Taiwan Lists 15 Substances as Chemicals of Concern (Updated on January 12, 2023)

Taiwan EPA is consulting on designating 15 chemical substances as “chemical substances of concern”, including 2 new psychoactive substances, 5 chemicals of food safety concerns and 8 precursors for blasting explosives. The 14-day consultation period will end on September 22, 2022.

Japan Announces 200 Carcinogenic Substances Requiring Exposure Record Keeping for 30 Years

On December 26, 2022, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) issued a ministerial notice to clarify the definition of “carcinogenic substances” regulated under the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health. At the same time, two batches of 200 carcinogenic substances are published.

South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) is consulting until December 4, 2022 on a draft amendment to the Restricted Chemical Substances List by MoE Notice No. 2022-627. As proposed, the ministry will delay the implementation date of the new restrictions for a chromium (6+) compound – strontium chromate (CAS No.7789-06-2).
