Japan Issues Recommended GHS Classifications for 170 Substances

On June 29, 2023, NITE announced the recommended GHS classifications for 170 chemical substances, of which 47 substances were newly classified and 123 were re-classified. The classifications were made in 2022 based on the JIS Z 7252-2019 standard that adopts UN GHS Rev.6.

China to Mandate CCC Certification for Lithium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs in 2024

EU Approves New Regulation on Batteries and Waste Batteries(Updated on July 10, 2023)

On July 10, 2023, the Council of the European Union adopted the new regulation on batteries. The regulation will now be signed by the Council and the European Parliament. It will then be published in the EU' s Official Journal and enter into force 20 days after.

Rotterdam Convention to List Methyl Bromide and Paraquat in Annex III for PIC Procedure

From 3 to 6 October 2023, the Chemical Review Committee of the Rotterdam Convention is scheduled to convene for its 19th session in Rome, Italy. This meeting will be held consecutively with the 19th meeting of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee of the Stockholm Convention.
