IECSC Search under China REACH

The Inventory of Existing Substances in China (IECSC) contains all the chemical substances used in China between 1992 and 2003. If a substance is not included in the IECSC, the production, import or use of this substance in China without notification is prohibited. Following the online and formal comprehensive searches, if the substance is not included on the IECSC, it is a currently a new substance in China. The 2010 IECSC inventory includes 45,602 substances.

China REACH: An Introduction

On October 15th 2010, a REACh- style regulation "Measures for the Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances’ or ‘China REACH", came into effect, under the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP). China’s update of its regulation follows other countries which are moving towards a more comprehensive evaluation and tracking of chemical substances.

2010: A Challenging Year for the Implementation of China REACH

On 19 Jan 2010 the Ministry of Environment Protection of China (MEP) launched the final version of "Measures on the Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances", also dubbed as "China REACH") and announced that the "Measures" would be implemented from 15 October, 2010. The "Measures", also called "China REACH", contains provisions impacting foreign companies and is likely to place them at a significant disadvantage.
