Vietnam Solicits Substance Information to Supplement the Draft National Chemical Inventory

On April 4, 2020, Vietnam’s Department of Chemicals under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) issued a notice to seek information on more chemicals to supplement the draft National Chemical Inventory (NCI). Enterprises are requested to submit information on chemicals that have been imported, manufactured, and used in Vietnam before May 30, 2020.
Vietnam Updates the List of Banned and Restricted Active Ingredients in Insecticide and Disinfectant

On March 19, 2020, the World Trade Organization (WTO) issued a Notification to solicit comments from members on Vietnam's draft Circular which promulgated the List of active ingredients banned from use and restricting the scope of insecticide and disinfectant registration for household and medical use. According to the Notification, the consultation will last for 60 days, and the draft Circular is scheduled for adoption in June and will finally enter in force on August 1.
Vietnam to Assist Enterprises to Comply with GHS Requirements in Asia Pacific and EU

At last, MOIT also recommends enterprises to communicate with the government through phone or e-mail if they need other technical support. For the foreign enterprises that plan to trade with Vietnam and are concern with the GHS implementation in Vietnam, it is a good chance to communicate with the local government as well.

The text consists of 6 chapters, including general provisions, technical regulations, testing methods, management regulations, responsibilities of organizations and individuals etc.

Vietnam Introduces Annual Reporting System

Speaking at ChemCon held in Seoul on Jun 19, Mr. Le Viet Thang from Vietnam Chemicals Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade introduced Vietnam’s annual reporting system of chemicals. According to Mr. Thang, in the past companies were required to report many times per year, while now the different requirements are combined into one report, meaning companies only need to report once per year.
