Malaysia Updates the List of Classified Chemicals

In the October of 2019, the Malaysia Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) promulgated the Industry Code of Practice on Chemicals Classification and Hazard Communication (Amendment) 2019 Part 1 (ICOP 2019 Part 1) as a guidance to chemical suppliers to comply with the provisions in Part II of the Occupational Safety and Health (Classification, Labelling and Safety Data Sheet of Hazardous Chemicals) Regulations 2013 (aka. the CLASS Regulations, hereinafter is referred to as "the Regulations").

Korea MoEL Requires SDS Online Submission from 2021

The revised Occupational Safety and Health Act[1] (OSHA) was promulgated as Law No. 16272 on January 15, 2019 (CL news[2]). One of the major amendments requires the submission of SDS to the Ministry of Employment and Labour (MoEL) within five years after the amendment is implemented (from January 16, 2021).

Australia to Adopt GHS Revision 7 from July 2020

On January 10, 2020, the Safe Work Australia (SWA) announced in a press release [1] that its members have agreed to practice the 7th revised edition of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) for management of workplace hazardous chemicals. Earlier in July 2019, the agency opened a consultation on the proposal to move to GHS Revision 7 (ChemLinked news [2]).

Taiwan Promulgates Revised Labelling and SDS Regulation for Toxic and Concerned Chemical

Takehome: Taiwan EPA published the new Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation. The revised Regulation will come into effect on January 16, 2020, the same implementation date as Taiwan TCCSCA. The amendments of the Toxic Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation, renamed as the Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Labelling and SDS Regulation (hereafter referred to as the Regulation) was promulgated by Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) on January 13, 2010.
