China Notifies WTO of Draft Revision to List of Dangerous Goods (Updated on June 26, 2023)

GB 6944 and GB 12268 were issued for public consultation. They help standardize the system for dangerous goods transportation, storage, distribution, and other related activities in China. Once adopted, the revised standards are expected to take effect 12 months after publication and replace their 2012 versions.

In May of 2023, China MEM issued a work plan for the special inspection on 35 target hazardous substances and reinforce law enforcement. South Korea opened a public consultation on the hazard assessments results new chemical substances registered under K-REACH. Japan announced the addition of 6 priority assessment chemical substances and the removal of 6 substances previously listed. Thailand extended the deadline for 2022 annual report on hazardous chemicals in industrial plants. India issued the draft EPR regulations for used oil to seek public comments.

In March of 2023, China issued draft amendments to ‘GB 6944 Classification and code of dangerous goods’ and ‘GB 12268 List of dangerous goods’ for public consultation. South Korea published a notice to urge enterprises handling Group B biocidal active substances to speed up dossier preparation and submission for approval under K-BPR. Two batches of 1,469 hazardous substances are proposed to mandate SDS and labelling requirements under Japan ISHL. Thailand imposed a destruction order on PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related compounds. Australia restricted the introduction or use of two POPs.

China Revises Measures for Storage of Dangerous Goods by Air Transport

On December 20, 2022, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued Measures for the Administration of Temporary Storage of Dangerous Goods by Air Transport (AC-276-TR-2022-01R1) to revise the existing Measures for the Administration of Storage of Dangerous Goods by Air Transport (AC-276-TR-2018-01). It is set to take effect on March 1, 2023 and replace the old version.

China Adopts Yellow River Protection Law
