India Launches its Chemical Inventory Platform

ChemIndia will further improve the efficiency of data collection, compilation and analysis in the chemicals and petro-chemicals industry.

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), Govt. of India, made an announcement on its website on October 10, 2023, regarding the launch of a significant and ambitious project called ChemIndia.

The project aims to create a comprehensive chemical inventory of India pertaining to various aspects of the chemical sector such as production, installed capacity, exports, imports, purchases, sales and various chemical properties. It aims to collect, compile and analysis of real-time data received from the Chemicals and Petro-chemicals Industry. The requisite data shall be available on monthly/annual basis.

As one of the highlight features of this platform, a GIS dashboard will deliver location-based insights using simple, interactive data visualisations on a single screen. It will make real-time data collection easier, ensuring quick information availability for analysis.

In addition, the platform serves as an information hub to share and re-use research material and data for the industrial policy building. By incorporating contemporary tools including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics, the platform will promote data processing capabilities to assist in quick business decision.
