On February 27, 2024, India's Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) officially announced that the submission of chemical and petrochemical data is mandatory on ChemIndia Webportal. The collected data shall be used to generate Index of Industrial Production every month and ultimately create a comprehensive and authentic inventory of the chemical and petrochemicals data.
What data needs to be submitted
According to the notification published in the Gazette of India, the mandatory report will focus on monthly data related to production (quantity and value), import, export, installed capacity, sales, etc. The data for every calendar month shall be submitted on or before 10th date of the following calendar month.
Who needs to submit data
An owner or manager of an Indian registered unit engaging in the production, import, export, sale of chemicals and petrochemicals is required to submit the required data on the ChemIndia Webportal. The submitted information shall be presented in the prescribed format in English.
DCPC has designated the Statistics Officer as its assignee in office, who is in charge of issuing notices to require obligated units in his jurisdiction to submit relevant data. The obligated units shall also furnish relevant records for inspection and answer questions raised by the Statistic Officer or its authorized person.
How to submit data on the portal
Last year, DCPC published the User Manual for ChemIndia Webportal which breaks down into a step-by-step guideline to help companies navigate the portal. ChemLinked has also summarized the essential steps to register and submit data on the ChemIndia Webportal.
