The List incorporated 3436 common dangerous goods in air transport which can be further divided into 3 groups according to the aviation safety requirements:
Group 1 dangerous goods are permitted for air transport on the condition of meeting all the technical and regulatory requirements. These dangerous goods, amounting to 3153 in the List, are assigned and sorted by the UN sequence numbers. The entry of consumer commodities adopts an ID number (8000) from the ICAO Technical Instructions because the UN numbers have not been agreed even though according to the Dangerous Goods Panel they should be regulated during air transport.
Group 2 dangerous goods are prohibited in normal circumstances but could be carried in exceptional circumstances subject to exemption by the civil aviation authority. There are 2 kinds of such dangerous goods and they are not assigned a UN number.
Group 3 dangerous goods are forbidden under any circumstances, as indicated by the columns of “class or division”, “subsidiary risk” and “packaging group”. There are 281 such entries sorted by alphabetical order of the English names as they are not assigned a UN numbers. In addition to the listed ones, any substances which are explosive, highly reactive, and flammable or emit heat or toxic, corrosive or flammable gas or steam are forbidden to be transported by air under any circumstance.
In addition, note that names in bold are proper shipping names. For those with asterisks should be supplement with the technical name/ chemical name of the goods.
