On November 19th, 2020, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) issued National Standard Notice No. 26 of 2020 [1] to release 586 recommended national standards and 2 amending lists, including GB/T 39293-2020 Terminology and Classification for Industry Cleaning [2]. The full text of this standard was just published, it will enter into effect on October 1st, 2021.
The main content of GB/T 39293 is divided into 4 parts as follows:
Scope
Terms and definitions of
Basic terms,
Equipment terms,
Cleaning agent terms,
Scales and stains terms,
Cleaning results terms.
Classification of industrial cleaning. 2 classification systems and relative definitions are introduced, namely, classification based on the cleaning principle or the cleaning process.
Chinese index and English index.
For each term, the English translation is provided. In GB/T 39293, a total of 17 kinds of cleaning agents are defined, including those with different solvents and for different uses. Among them, the definitions for cleaning agents in GB 38508-2020 Limits for Volatile Organic Compounds Content in Cleaning Agents [3] are quoted.
As an important process in various industries, industrial cleaning needs more standardized supervision and management. GB/T 39293 was formulated for this purpose and it definitely will play an important role to assist the healthy development of this field. In addition, GB 38508 was officially enforced from this month, GB/T 39293 can benefit the VOCs management in cleaning agents as well.
On December 1st, 2020, 6 VOCs standards entered into force. Besides GB 38508, the limits for VOCs in adhesives, industrial protective coatings, woodenware coatings, architectural wall coatings, and vehicle coatings were implemented since the beginning of this month.
