EU Commission Issues Amendments to BPA Regulation for Food Contact Materials

The amendment corrects and clarifies Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 on the use of BPA in FCM, including definitions, analytical methods, confidentiality, and adjusts key transitional deadlines for phasing out BPA-containing articles.

On February 3, 2026, the European Commission published Commission Regulation (EU) 2026/250 in the Official Journal of the European Union. This legal act corrects specific errors and inconsistencies found in Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 regarding the use of bisphenol A (BPA) and other bisphenols in materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The correcting regulation, adopted on February 2, 2026, clarifies definitions, testing methodologies, and crucially, adjusts the transitional dates for the phasing out of BPA in specific food contact applications.
